2024 Kansas MTSS & Alignment Symposium

 This session will provide key leadership factors related to developing the local system. How can principals, teachers, and students develop coherence and capacity to lead change at the schools? And how do they best relate to districts and other schools in their jurisdictions?

This session focuses on the 6 C's (Character, Compassion, Collaboration, Communication, Critical Thinking, and Creativity) and corresponding core pedagogies to achieve deep learning.

This session examines 5 leadership domains with examples: Spirit Work, Contextual Leadership, Connected Autonomy, Leadership Legacy, and System Change. A framework for developing these skills will be presented and applied.

Within the realm of education, it is critical to acquire knowledge of the foundational aspects that form the basis of operations and initiatives. These include grasping the essential fundamentals, understanding the intricate structures in place, recognizing lead indicators that guide decision-making, and assessing the measures of progress, all of which are encompassed in the comprehensive KESA 2.0 framework.

Delving deeper into the subject matter, it becomes imperative to examine how each structural component is delineated and expounded upon by the Kansas State Department of Education. This involves gaining a thorough understanding of the nuances and intricacies embedded in each structure, as elucidated by KSDE.

Furthermore, it is crucial to explore how these structures are bolstered and reinforced through collaborative efforts and engagements with key entities such as the Kansas Multi-Tier System of Supports and Alignment initiative. By delving into these collaborative endeavors, you will gain insights into the interconnectedness and interdependence of various educational frameworks and systems, thereby fostering a more holistic and coherent approach to enhancing educational outcomes and experiences.

Building authentic partnerships for multilingual families involves recognizing their assets and the dynamics needed to create supportive environments that honor and celebrate cultural and linguistic diversity.  Come learn about Community Cultural Wealth (CCW) ( Yosso, 2005) and how we can use this knowledge to create and foster these cultural norms, values, and communication styles to build trust and rapport with our multilingual families.

USD 323 Rock Creek Schools just finished their first
year working with TASN on the BSEL framework. In this session, presenters will talk about their BSEL
journey both from a district perspective as well as two different school perspectives (elementary
